So you are holding a camera in your hands. Whoever has a more
expensive reflex camera has more chances to take a better shot. But
we will use the average camera of amateur level but with a lot of
options for our purposes.

In the beginning we will tell you a little bit about formats and
compression. There are few formats which are used for recording a
picture. Usually Jpg is very well known, another format is called
RAW. It’s only digital reflex cameras which can record pictures in
this format. Although at times some expensive simple hand-held
cameras do that as well. This is a record without compression. In
other words with this format the information is recorded into the
memory from the matrix and is then recorded in to the processor
exactly as it was taken. It means if you take a picture with a
resolution of 10 mp the memory card will get the information of 10
mp. No compression. Obviously that kind of picture will take a lot
of space. But the quality of the picture will be as high as
possible. As a rule by shooting pictures of very high quality on
expensive cameras they use just that very mode. After getting a
picture of the highest possible quality they compress it to the
appropriate quality which a photographer needs. It’s already too
deep but it if somebody has a camera whose options allow them to
make pictures in RAW format it will make it a little but more clear.
An inexperienced photographer, when taking pictures in a Jpg format,
can’t understand the difference between this format and RAW. All he
can see is only that the latter takes a lot of memory space. However
by enlarging the picture you can appreciate its advantages. As for
the overwhelming majority of cameras they take pictures in Jpg
format.
